Enthusiasm

Today I had the opportunity to interview the new product manager we’re hoping to be bring on full time for my product. I have to say I’m really pleased with the guy and talking to him turned an otherwise crappy / depressing day for me around and now I’m excited again and hopeful that once he’s on board we will have someone with a little more focus on that side of the product management / development management fence.

He seems passionate about Agile methodologies and helping support those activities by offering requirements to an early backlog to improve Agile flow. Most of all is that he has a software engineering background (PHD in Search Algorithms), but seems to have a good grasp on the roles and differences of what he brings to the table and what job engineering really serves to accomplish, honoring customer needs while also solving future problems solved only through re-engineering efforts. We talked a lot about his experiences at his current job and what kinds of things he did to improve release cycles and architecture while also best serving customer needs.

Again, pretty excited to get him on board.
