The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion was launched today and I will be picking up my reserved copy that I’ve had on reserve since last summer. I’ll also be picking up my copy of Ghost recon finally, a new xbox headset, and a memory card (so I can take my profile to Ray’s house). Overall I’m really excited to do some new gaming and it’s going to be a ton of fun. Oblivion from what I can see is the first game that is seriously using the Xbox 360 hardware to it’s fullest or at least close.

So as always I go over to my brother’s house to play some WoW on Monday night and the server is severally jacked up to hell. We got maybe 30 minutes of gaming in before it just got unplayable and the whole server crashed and doesn’t seem like it’s coming back up. After much aggravation we went out and Ray picked up Fight Night 3 as well so we could beat the shite out of each other. So many nice games are coming out, I’ve even heard that Oblivion is finally coming out on tomorrow (thanks to Sean) and I still haven’t picked up my copy of Ghost Recon.

So Kerrie and I decided to hit a road trip today. Both of us have been working to hard and needed to get out of town to actually enjoy 1 day of our respective weekends. Sadly on the way there after stopping for breakfast I left my prescription sun glasses on the roof and well, they met a sad thumping grave under someone’s tire. I’m kinda pissed but my folks offered to buy me new ones because they’re cool like that. After hanging out at the coast for a while and showing her some new places she hadn’t seen on other trips, we hit Ruby Tuesday’s on the way back which was “2 thumbs up”. I’m going to relax the rest of the evening beating the shit out of some guy in Fight Night 3. Not really ready for another week. I’m starting to seriously get burt out, but for now I’m at least relaxed.

So spending the day trying to get DNN to at least run on the live web server. As it turns out it needs to run in it’s own application pool in IIS 6.0 because IIS6 can’t have 1.1 and 2.0 apps running in the same “application pool”. It’s still being bitchy and I’m going to have to fight with it more, but for now it’s at least working. Back to the Alterec Valley.

Yes it’s the day of Guinness, Baily’s, and Irish drunken frivolity. After work, Kerrie and I went down to the Kell’s Irish festival, got the T-Shirt, had plenty of fresh off the roast, roast beef sandwiches, a Guinness, and enjoyed good music. I got to hear my favorite Kell’s band is extra luster up in the across the street tent. I talked for a while with my favorite bar tender who was part of even coordination/security tonight. Oddly, shortly after that I felt fulfilled and needed a change of scene. We tried to get into the pub to check out what was going on in there but even with a bracelet the line was atrocious. So we walked to Voodoo Donuts and I had one of their Oreo cookie donuts. Sure the night of drinking ended early but I think that I did enjoy myself and got my fill of this fantastic Irish holiday.

Apparently T-1 lines go down. What you were expecting “It pours”? Well it does that too, but when Intel is interviewing you, the T-1 line is down again, the AC in the server room is making pools of water, the security system no one can figure out, and the document management system is broken and no users can see any files… yeah it pours. I just got home after another almost 12 hour day. I can’t wait till things stabilize and I can get back to the normal status quo of doing cool programming shit again.

So not only did Ray and I finish off level 51, but we also did it in style completing approximately 12 quests in one night. Ray scored a new offhand h2h weapon and a new 2H axe. And I scored a new pair of gloves and boots. Overall a really good night of WoW and we are looking forward to the Alterec Valley battleground.

We started recording Obsidian Podcast #5 at around 7:30 and it dragged on till 11:30. Alan aka Blinkers, Patrick aka Dunkan Kentar, Sean aka Broadband, Ashes Relandi, and myself all got on Skype to do the podcast. It was very fun an entertaining though as always a lot of work and a spider web of crazy ass tangents.

Tonight Ray and I banged through 6 very hard quests from start to finish in one night and it resulted in almost a whole level. This means we are well on our way to getting to level 51 which for me means Ruin, for Ray means Improved Off-Hand 5, and for both of us the ability to battle it out in the Alteric Valley. We talked with Thrarr last night about how the Alteric Valley works and both of us are excited to do battle there. I’ve been so focused on leveling this last week I hope I didn’t lose First Sergeant. I did get several kills last night from random PVP but I didn’t even get into one battleground all week.

Berbati’s Pan is a venue I’ve never been to before so right away it was a new and cool experience. After scoping the place realized that they were selling LP’s of the She Wants Revenge album so I picked it up for $15 bucks. There were 2 bands on before SWR that where pretty good but when SWR finally hit the stage the crowd went wild. They did the entire album including “Why can’t I just spend the night” and “Run, Run, Run”, which apparently “Run, Run, Run” was the first song they ever wrote even before they thought they were going to be a band. After the show Adam (piano player/base player) signed my album “Victor, very nice to meet you!” with his name and SWR at the bottom. I’m going to frame it and put it on the wall here at work. I got tons of pictures and videos of the concert that I’ll have to get online later. It was from my shitty camera phone, but hey better than nothing.
