So I’m going to Dallas! Even though it’s the damn reddest state in the nation, it’s still cool because it’s my first ever work related trip. Realcomm is a technology meets real estate management convention and is filled with geeky workshops on cool websites to coool database designs to lots of other cool shit. Sure it’s right after my birthday but who cares! I’ll still get a good 3 day weekend for my birthday.

More new hotness. Ed asked me today to write a reporting system for the meter readings database I created earlier this month and I got it done quickly and efficiently. We noticed a lot of problems with a lot of the data though. Hopefully we can get some of that corrected and enter some of the missing data this month so the reports are usable and give us some nice information.

Say it with me, “New hotness”? The SDK for Document Locator is very nice. It apparently has some bugs which frustrated me for a long time until I talked to a developer who told me there are bugs with one function I’m trying to use but that bug should be fixed on Friday/Monday’s next build of Document Locator. Been getting some darn cool stuff done recently and it’s nice that I’ve just been coding like crazy with very little stress. I mean Rhonda is still a lot of stress but at least I have Brian to help with the politics.

In that time I’ll save up a 5K saving buffer, pay off my car, and have enough for a down payment plus furnature for my new house. I can’t wait. All of that assuming I don’t get paid another red cent, which Brian has assured me will change. I’m going to have to wait one more month or so because I need to finish paying off the rest of my Amex. So starting in July my budget’s getting tightened up a bit as I begin to save for my house. If I’m lucky I should be in a house of my own on my own merit around my 30th Birthday.

Corrigo synchronization is now done. Apparently this entire time it wasn’t my issue and actually an issue with the Corrigo wSDK. They have resolved the issue and now it’s just a matter of time before we start seeing real updates to the now working software from Hoffman.

Today I feel semi human. I got real full night’s rest (not getting up every hour to go pee out my butt) which is a first since I was sick. I don’t as weak today though I do feel a bit weak. I did more work today trying to resolve issues with Meriwether syncing/Corrigo stuff, but other than that took it easy and did more WoW’in. I ate cerial this morning which was a big step because it had dairy, I ate a decent sized lunch of soup and toast, and I had a normal sized meal at Aztecha (my first time out of the house since this started, well except for the hospital visit). I should be good for work tomorrow though I doubt I’ll be 100% more like 85-90%.

Brian, Steven, and I escaped the office for an extended lunch today to go see MI3 at the Lloyd center Regal. The movie was great and it was nice to do a little team building fun. Unfortunately as it turns out Brian told me that Steven’s a bust because he asked for more than Jacob had given Brian a budget to pay for him. Kinda sucks because I think he was a good fit and it was starting to feel like a team again between the 3 of us.

I think for the first time in MANY MANY months I’m finally caught up on time sensitive critical things to do. I mean I still have more projects to work on but nothing SERIOUS or time sensitive. It’s nice having a little breathing room. I think I might take a day or 2 vacation later this month. Maybe extend memorial day weekend a bit or something.

So Brian is has been busy all day working with me and Rhonda seperately, translating what I say and translating what she says. Apparently we speak a different language when it comes to design. In her mind “design” is the design of the content to invoke feelings. In my mind “design” is the layout of the site. Yes these are both aspects of design and I know that Rhonda’s world is the content but on the flip side I was focused on layout and that was spinning Rhonda around. He’s working through the “lost in translation” problem we are having and who knows maybe we’ll come to some understanding soon.
